The step-mother is subjected to severe verbal abuse, with Lady Scarlet calling her names such as “bitch”. As the scene unfolds, the viewer is made to feel as though they are watching from the next room, with comments such as “Look what I can do to your Step-Mother” and “Your Step-Mother is my foot bitch” driving home the idea of Lady Scarlet’s total control over the situation.
